Gods love in relation to… The Doctrine of Christ…
(2) Faith towards God…
In the previous principal we looked at Repentance being…
“A change of Heart from mammon (personal gain) to…
Gods Love… (Family gain)”
We all follow our heart either Consciously or unconsciously in our pursuit of happiness peace and joy and we learnt that this course comes with consequences….
God will not permit personal gain to
destroy humanity, there will be a time of accountability and served justice.
In repentance we turned from death to life in Christ and moving forward we now transition into the second principal…
Faith towards God.
Faith towards God is…
“A Confident expectation in God’s love.”
It is not a hope…as hope is “an expectation of future pleasure…”
Faith is based on an understanding that flows from living a life in Christ like Jesus demonstrated…
Hebrews chapter 11 is a great chapter on faith…. especially
Heb 11:6: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a REWARDER of them that diligently seek him.”
God honours faith because faith honours God…
Rom 10:17: “So then faith…
(a confident expectation in Gods love )
cometh by hearing, and hearing by (listening and following) the word of God.”
Our happiness peace and joy is based on people objects and actions we have learned through EXPERIENCE to value….
You can read these words but if you don’t put them into practice then they are just words… not enough to considered living in Christ like Jesus…
For example….
I could tell you chocolate is something you will value but unless you taste it… you will never value it for yourself.
Jam 2:26: “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
This is why Faith is a confident expectation… of what chocolate tastes like…and like chocolate…we can also begin to see and experience Gods love all around us….
The more we flow in Gods love the more faith we have towards God…
A confident expectation in Gods love.
Beware… familiarity breeds Contempt…
Jesus was unable to do many miracles in his home town because…of their faith…
Matt 13:53
Now when Jesus finished these parables, he moved on from there. Then he came to his hometown and began to teach the people in their synagogue.
They were astonished and said, “Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers? Isn’t this the carpenter’s son?
Isn’t his mother named Mary? And aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?
And aren’t all his sisters here with us? So where did he get all this?” And so they took offense at him.
But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own house.” And he did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.
We all flow in mindsets that underpin our expectations of love…
but many of these are programmed into us through culture, family, schooling, religion and even tv marketing…. not through Gods love.
I often test people by asking….
Are you saved and can you prove it from scripture….? in the hope they will show me a scripture relating to being in Christ like Jesus….
Most people have faith that a loving God and Jesus won’t leave them behind… so they sacrifice their Sunday mornings as a sort of down payment on their ticket to heaven… I know I did for 35 years…
It wasn’t until I became so frustrated with lukewarm Christian’s that I asked the question….
Why isn’t this working…?
The answer… Gods love had been taken out of what was being preached….
Gods love is often referenced but never actually explained as to exactly what Gods love IS.
The only messages I saw being preached was… “ If you do what they did you can have what they have”
This principle doesn’t work unless it is supported by an understanding of what Gods love actually is…
Faith does not come by copying others to get what they got… this is personal gain… mammon.
There is so much more than just what others got….
Jesus even said…
John 14:12: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and GREATER WORKS than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
Greater works than Jesus???
How is this even conceivable???
because Gods love has NO LIMITS.
Jesus will not be offended if we do greater acts of Gods love because Jesus understands how Faith towards God works…
Jesus had a constant confident expectation of Gods love flowing through him… and Jesus wants you to understand that God the Father wants to flow his love through you as well…
Family based, creation harmonising,
Compassion, mercy, peace, loving kindness, truth, forgiveness and justice… and that is just the tip of the iceberg….
Repentance… turning to Gods love
Faith… a confident expectation of Gods love…
Baptisms… this is where it gets really exciting….
