What exactly is Gods love?…
Gods love is the one absolute truth that all truth flows from.
To understand this truth you first have to understand where love came from and how love works.
Love is part of Gods nature.
When we were made in the likeness of God the Father we also inherited Gods love…
When Adam ate the fruit from the tree of Good and Evil a new version of love came into being.
Jesus called this love “Mammon” which means “Personal gain”
The first feeling Adam had was condemnation and mankind has been compensating for it ever since…
Jesus taught there are only two motivating foundations of love…
Luk 16:13: “No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
- Mammon, which is based on PERSONAL gain.
- Gods love, which is based on what God values for His FAMILY.
Gods love and mammon both function with the same underlying principles of love but the outcomes are very different.
To understand the difference you have to understand how love ACTUALLY works…
Love is not a “Great mystery” that is to “sacred “ to understand but in reality… love operates in our lives every minute of every day.
There are levels of love that range from the way we unconsciously sit in a chair… to the way we feel about loved ones.
Love is an everyday way of life.
All LOVE is based on 3 principles…
(1 ) Love is a FEELING… You feel love generally in the chest area. This is why we use the heart 
to symbolise love…
We feel love generally as…
Happiness
Peace
Joy
(2) Without SUPPORT there is no love.
Support is made up of…
PEOPLE we personally value…
OBJECTS we personally value…
EVENTS we personally value…
(3) The support we value must also be in the right CONTEXT for us to feel happiness peace and joy.
The mechanics of love never change and apply in every culture but what does change is the things we have learnt through experience to PERSONALLY VALUE and the surrounding CONTEXT .
We all follow our heart because we find happiness peace and joy in the things we value.
We are constantly moving from the uncomfortable to the comfortable.
For example when we are sitting in a chair we subconsciously loose our happiness peace and joy when we sit in one position too long so we subconsciously adjust our position until we are comfortable again…
This same principle operates in every area of our lives…
We move from what we don’t like to what we value… either consciously or unconsciously.
Our greatest feeling of love comes from People we value.
They are our family. They share many of the same values that we share…
A family can be your immediate birth family…or…
A church…
A sports club…
Even the local bar…
Jesus put it this way
Mat 12:47-50
While Jesus was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and brothers came and stood outside, asking to speak to him. Someone told him, “Look, your mother and your brothers are standing outside wanting to speak to you.” To the one who had said this, Jesus replied, “Who is my mother and who are my brothers?” And pointing toward his disciples he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
A good example of when we experience love flowing from People Objects and Events coming together in the right context would be…
Getting friends together for a dinner party with good food…
People…valued friends
Objects… valued food
Event… valued dinner party
Context… valued time and place
Feeling… Happiness Peace and Joy
The OPPERSITE of Love is… GRIEF
When our EXPECTATION of love is not met we feel GRIEF … which is generally experienced as…
Sadness
Anxiety
Anger
Wherever there is GRIEF feelings there is an unrealistic expectation of love being met…
If you identify what the unrealistic expectation is and RESET it to a realistic expectation the feelings of grief will usually go.
You can then make decisions and set new goals based on reality rather than being stuck in “I wish…” or “It should….”
Grief always flows from an expectation of love not being met.
Love is very personal.
It is based on our personal values… the things we value.
Love is the same for a Saintly person as it is in an evil person… the only difference is the values and context.
Your success in love is proportional to the amount of consideration that you give to the people objects and events that surround you
Most love decisions are made at a subconscious level…
Sitting in a chair is not as important as choosing a partner to start a family with… but the underlying principles are still the same.
Your personal ability to succeed is determined by your close consideration of the future and then you….making an educated guess…
UNLESS…
You choose Gods love.
God the Father chose to give us a free will because that’s how He knows we are part of his Family and our love flows from he right reasons.
God doesn’t want robots but a relationship.
He wants to share in your life story as it unfolds…supported by a system of love that is fair for everyone … after all…
He is our Father.
Matt 22:37
Jesus said to him, “‘Love (find your love in) the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: ‘Love (show happiness peace and joy to) your neighbour (brothers and sisters)
just as (you focus on happiness peace and joy for) yourself.’
All choices have a Consequence.
For me personally I have found the greatest lasting happiness peace and joy… as I have flowed in Gods love… it started on the outside in but soon began flowing from the inside out… there is nothing like it.
Many think… “It will all be good when I get to heaven”… but unless you understand and are flowing in Gods love like Jesus did…then you will NOT be “in Christ” which is the qualifier for getting to heaven…
The apostle Paul tells us…
2Thes 4:16… For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead
“IN CHRIST “
will rise first. Then we who are alive, (in Christ) who are left, will be suddenly caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
Gods love is more than avoiding the lake of fire (personal gain) Gods love is a foundation for a eternal free creative society…that functions as a Family and it is operating right now….
So what is it EXACTLY that gives God happiness peace and joy…?
Gods personal values are
Based on….
- People…. His Family
- Objects…. His creation and the creations of his Family
- Events…. Actions God values. (Events are based in actions )
Gods action values are found in Numbers 34:6 where he declares them to Moses…they are…
Compassion
Mercy
Slow to anger
Loving kindness
Truth
Forgiveness
Justice
The choice is simple…you can choose to reject God and his love, guidance and protection for your own personal gain….
OR
Embrace Gods values by learning them, applying them to your life and flowing in an obedience relationship built on an understanding of a greater love at work…in a family where everyone is equally important.
The reason we were created in the first place was to be creators go our own stories of love that will be shared in the Family of God for eternity…..
There is a lot of principles covered in this video….
I personally have spent the last four years working all of this out then testing it on myself, friends and every context I find myself in to make sure I’m not delusional…
I have found the principals of Love I have shared here have always remained true.
Finding Gods love is not the end of my journey but the beginning…..and it can be for you too.
Jesus said in John 4:14
“whoever drinks some of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again, the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.”
I have also found GODS Love has not and is not being taught let alone in depth teaching on Gods love….
Love is often mentioned in songs, movies and media with smiling faces actors telling us love can be found in the objects we buy or the events we pay for…
The truth is… There is only one absolute truth and all truth flows from it and that is Gods love
